Write for us

Rural Sports Journal welcomes thoughtful pitches about rural sport and the details that make it part of countryside life. We are interested in clear, original ideas that help general readers understand a game, place, custom or sporting object without relying on specialist knowledge.

Ideas we welcome

Propose an evergreen subject connected to playing places, club life, local games, seasonal sport or sporting objects. Strong ideas have a distinct focus, explain why the subject matters and give readers a useful way to understand or notice it. We welcome explanatory pieces, comparisons, histories, myth-checks and occasion-specific guides that do not depend on unsupported claims.

What to include

Send a short summary of the proposed article, its central point, the intended reader and why it belongs in Rural Sports Journal. Mention any relevant sources or areas that need careful qualification. Please pitch original work and disclose any commercial interest connected to the subject.

Send a proposal

Proposals are sent through the Contact page. A pitch is not a promise of publication, and we may shape an accepted idea with the contributor to make its scope and wording clear.
